_top-reasons-americans-avoid-taking-their-car-in.webp "Americans admit to ignoring their “check engine” light for an average of four months before addressing it, according to new research.<br/><br/>A new survey of 2,000 American car owners revealed that one in five (20%) even admit to putting it off between six and 18 months.<br/><br/>This may be because almost one-third (32%) will wait “as long as possible” before bringing their car in to get serviced.<br/><br/>In fact, another 39% are likely to wait for an incident or for something to break before even considering bringing their car in for service.<br/><br/>The research also revealed that 35% regret putting their car care off — resulting in unexpected repair fees (39%), emotional stress (22%) and even a roadside emergency (21%).<br/><br/>And while the average American feels that preventative car care is important (93%), almost half (48%) said they push back getting their car serviced because of financial constraints.<br/><br/>Conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Pep Boys, the data showed that when it comes to car care, Americans are prioritizing some things over others with exterior light issues (11%), window and windshield cracks (9%) and the radio or sound system (3%) ranking at the bottom of the list.<br/><br/>Americans have had their current car for an average of seven years and 93% own their car, compared to leasing it (7%).<br/><br/>Each year, the average respondent spends more than $400 on car maintenance ($438) and estimates that they’ve spent an astounding $6,272 in total servicing their current car over the years.<br/><br/>To get their car serviced, Americans are most likely to go to a dealership (31%) or a local mechanic (27%) and the majority (62%) do so every three to six months.<br/><br/>In relation to their other responsibilities, 38% of respondents said caring for their car is a “very high” priority.<br/><br/>Despite this, 21% feel like their car is going to break down any day now.<br/><br/>When asked what would cause the most stress if repairs were needed, engine trouble (66%), bad brakes (33%) and fuel system issues (31%) ranked as the top three.<br/><br/>In fact, 26% even admit that their car stresses them out more than their finances or even personal relationships (14%).<br/><br/>Despite these worries, only 32% of respondents wished they lived somewhere a car wasn’t necessary, perhaps because the majority (65%) don’t believe that life would be easier without one — an indicator of just how important they are to our lives.<br/><br/>WHAT CAR REPAIRS STRESS OUT AMERICANS THE MOST?<br/>● Engine - 66%<br/>● Brakes - 33%<br/>● Fuel system - 31%<br/>● Exhaust system - 16%<br/>● Tires - 15%<br/>● AC/heat unit - 15%<br/> <br/>Survey methodology:<br/>This random double-opt-in survey of 2,000 American car owners aged 25+ was commissioned by Pep Boys between March 29 and April 8, 2024. This game started out like how most games start out for San Antonio, and that’s with points. Coming into gameday, the Brahmas were 1st in the league with 17 opening drive points this season, meanwhile, the Renegades failed to score on their opening drive and remain the only team to not have any opening drive points this season.<br/><br/>The game started off strong on the ground for the Brahmas, as they broke off two huge runs including a 36-yard gain on the first drive, which led to a field goal. San Antonio ended the quarter with 93 rushing yards, more than doubling their total from the previous week, 40.<br/><br/>The Renegades regained momentum later in the half when QB Luis Perez hit Javonta Payton over the top with a 54-yard strike right before halftime kept them in the game, making it a 6-pt game at the half. From there, the game became a slugfest, excitement coming to a screeching halt. Arlington failed to finish drives on the day, converting a dreadful 3 of 14 on 3rd downs. Settling for field goals was a huge theme however, on the bright side for the Renegades, that allowed new kicker Jonathan Garibay to impress, hitting 3 of 4 on his attempts.<br/><br/>The biggest play of the game came after the Brahmas broke the 15-15 tie early in the 4th with a goal line punch in from one yard out with John Lovett. The Renegades had the ball at their own 40-yard line and decided to go for it on 4th and 1 instead of punting it.<br/><br/>I got Arlington coach Bob Stoops’ insight on why he went for it, he stated, “If I had more confidence in our defensive stops, I might’ve said hey, let’s just punt it …but I didn’t.” San Antonio was 5 of 10 on 3rd & 4th downs, and that proved to be the difference in the game.<br/><br/>Despite the loss, QB Luis Perez sets another record, becoming the first QB in UFL history to eclipse over 1,000 yards passing. Saturday he went 26-36 for 270 yards and 1 TD, a consistent line with the ones he’s been putting up all season long. Javonta Payton continues his impressive season, as he surpasses 100 yards receiving for the 2nd time this season.<br/><br/>The Renegades travel up to Michigan to take on the Michigan Panthers next Sunday. The last Skylark rocket launched with a Swedish mission called Maser 10. This was the tenth mission of the Swedish Space Corporation's microgravity rocket program. Its payload included four experiment modules with three experiments in fluid physics and two biology experiments. One biology experiment studied the way microgravity affects metabolism in cells from mammals. The other looked at a protein that affects inflammation and immunity in humans. The physics experiments investigated how microgravity affects the evaporation, thermal radiation and convection in liquids. Maser 10 carried these experiments to an altitude of 155 miles, or 93 miles above the atmosphere, where the rocket experienced six minutes of weightlessness.")
