Wales is the kindest region in Great Britain.

Research, of 2,000 adults, revealed those in the country will carry out an average of eight acts of kindness each week, compared to the six that people in the East of England will accomplish.

Londoners took second place, closely followed by the West Midlands, and adults in the North West - while those in the East of England and South East residents came bottom of the pile.

It also emerged one in four adults across the country volunteer, dedicating an average of eight hours of their spare time each week.

The research was commissioned by Nissan, which is working with The Richard Whitehead Foundation’s Supported Runner Project [www.whitehead.foundation/supported-runner-project-overview], to help make Sunday's TCS London Marathon more inclusive.

It comes after the study also found 56 per cent would volunteer to help a disabled friend or person complete a sporting event, if they were equipped with the right tools and training.

Gold-medal winning Paralympian and Nissan GB’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Ambassador, Richard Whitehead, said: “It’s fantastic to see how people support each other across the country and so many would be willing to help disabled runners if they had the tools and training to do so.

“Helping others is not only incredibly important, but also very rewarding, so we’re delighted to give people the opportunity to do so around mass participation running events.

“The Supported Runner Project provides comprehensive training to volunteers, allowing them to offer all-encompassing support to runners with physical or neurodiverse disabilities before, during and after each event, helping to remove some of the challenges and barriers to entry that they may encounter.

“We’re looking forward to seeing the impact this will have at this year’s race and hopefully we can inspire even more people to take part in the future.”

The study also revealed the top 30 things people do to help others, with showing their appreciation (60 per cent) and holding a door open for someone else (59 per cent) coming out on top.

Donating old belongings to charity (44 per cent), checking in on a friend (37 per cent) and taking a parcel in for a neighbour (45 per cent) also made the list.

And while 51 per cent are kind because it’s part of their personal values, 28 per cent said it makes them happy and 27 per cent like to feel they’re ‘doing their bit’.

Half would like to help people out more often than they currently do, and 34 per cent would even go as far to say they wished they were a kinder individual.

A lack of time (42 per cent), money (41 per cent) and an introverted personality (34 per cent) are among the things holding people back from being more compassionate - although 43 per cent believe they’ve grown kinder as they’ve grown older.

It also emerged three quarters recognise the power of kindness, as they feel it has a positive impact on their relationship with others.

The most stressful time of day is 8.15am, according to a study.

A poll, of 2,000 adult, found 35 per cent experience stress during the first part of the day, with the prospect of the working day ahead, struggling to leave the house on time, and oversleeping the most common early morning challenges.

Coping with the school run, looking for lost house keys, and figuring out what to wear are common anxieties too.

As are dealing with the unpredictability of kids’ emotions - in addition to both feeding and dressing them and making packed lunches.

And at a time of the day when every second matters, those polled typically lose 20 minutes and 28 seconds to morning trials and tribulations.

Following the findings, revealed as part of Onken's ‘Feed Your Inner Happiness’ campaign, Paddy McGuinness has shared his tongue-in-cheek time-saving tips [https://onken.co.uk/happiness-hub/].

Pointers include how to get the kids to do housework without them realising, how to stop them bickering, and how to help them with their homework when you’re stuck.

The TV funnyman said: “Follow my foolproof tips and you’ll be ready to tackle life’s curveballs - while still having time for yourself.

“Trust me, in my whirlwind of a schedule, I know just how precious those joy-filled moments can be.”

The study also found 51 per cent adults feel there’s ‘never’ enough time in the day to get things done.

While 51 per cent are ‘often overwhelmed’, with 47 per cent claiming to be busier now than ever before.

This might explain why 35 per cent ‘don’t know’ how to find time to do things which make them happy, and why 37 per cent have ‘forgotten’ how to make time for themselves.

It also emerged those polled aren’t enjoying as many as moments of happiness as they ‘need’.

According to the research, the typical adult ‘needs’ 27 moments of happiness a week - roughly four-a-day.

However, those polled actually get 20 - which is around three a day.

As a result, 57 per cent think they should make more effort to prioritise doing things which make them happy.

These include getting lost in a good book (54 per cent) and tucking into delicious food (48 per cent).

Carried out through OnePoll, the study also found 63 per cent would be interested in tips or advice on how to find more time for fun.

Mathilde van Roon, head of Onken, Emmi UK, added: “Let’s face it, the morning rush can often look like a comedy sketch gone wrong.

“Alongside Paddy, we’re spooning a little joy into your daily dash to feed your inner happiness.”

The three million or so Australians with HECS debts are in line for another hefty slug. Estimates are pointing to an increase of more than four per cent and that's after last year's 7 per cent hike. In the lead up to this year's rise on the first of June its looking increasingly likely the government will reform the debt system.

Range Rover’s modern luxury performance flagship, the 635PS mild-hybrid Twin Turbo V8 Range Rover Sport SV, recently proved the stopping performance and durability benefits of its optional Carbon Ceramic Braking system by completing a two-week track driving event at the Algarve International Circuit, on a single set of brake discs and pads.

All four of the Range Rover Sport SV EDITION ONEs used on track at the undulating 4.6km Portimão grand prix circuit in Portugal featured the optional Carbon Ceramic Braking system with SV-exclusive Brembo Octyma calipers and 440mm front brake discs, the largest in the automotive industry.

On average, each car covered 215 laps of the 15-corner circuit, adding 987km to the 1600 kilometres they had already covered before the event started.

When inspected after the drive event, the brake pads for the Carbon Ceramic Braking system still retained around 30 per cent of their usable pad life.

Every lap on track included multiple heavy braking zones, particularly into the first right-hand Corner 1 which saw Range Rover Sport SV EDITION ONE slowing from speeds of up to 241kph into the downhill braking zone, generating in excess of 1.1G – a figure it can also exceed in steady-state lateral acceleration during cornering, even on standard-fit all-season tyres.

The Carbon Ceramic Braking option also saves 34kg unsprung mass versus the standard Dual-Cast Brakes, which enables even more responsive handling, improved acceleration and enhanced ride quality.
