Description: This 3D animation shows a T4 bacteriophage infecting a bactium (E. coli). The bacteriophage attaches itself to the surface of the bacterium. Enzymes are released to degrade a small hole in the surface to allow for the virus's DNA to pass through. Once inside, the DNA 'hijacks', the bacterium's enzymes to produce proteins that block its degradation and initiate the production of proteins used to build new virus tails and capsids. The models, rigs, and textures were made in Autodesk Maya 2013.
