RC Cola retsepti taga on farmatseut Claude Hatcher, kes 1905. aastal Ameerikas, Georgia osariigis alustas oma perekonna keldris karastusjookide valmistamist. Esimene koola kandis nime Chero Cola, mis 1934. aastal muudeti Royal Crown Colaks ehk RC Colaks.
