May 23rd 2017: Stung Treng, Cambodian-Diary Entry-nMy Alarm wakes me at 7.30am to an already humid & hot morning, I find my way down the steps and grab a simple breakfast as I head out the door. I set off to find some transport, Stung Treng is already waking up into life, the sound of motorbikes and car horns slowly fill the banks of the Mekong, I finish up walking around the block, through a market being set up and across a couple of busy streets, finally back near my accommodation I sight

Murdered in 1988 at the age of 27 when he was at the height of his powers, Chamkila is an exemplar of the supernova who lives and dies for art.<br/><br/>Biopics on Chamkila have been previously announced and abandoned; at least one of them, starring Diljit Dosanjh, was completed but stalled by a lawsuit. Chamkila’s unsolved assassination shaped key plot points in Rohit Jugraj’s web series Chamak (2023).
