Deception of the Novelist is a 2019 Hong Kong murder thriller infidelity film directed by Christopher Sun Lap-kei (孫立基). Lead cast is Justin Cheung Kin-seng (張建聲). The support casts are Jeana Ho Pui-yu (何佩瑜), Benny Chan Ho-man (陳浩民), Raymond Chiu Wing-hung (趙永洪), C Kwan (C君), Billy Luk Wing-kuen (陸永權), Danny Chan Kwok-kwan (陈国坤), Kelly Chen Ka-lei (陈嘉莉) and Hugo Ng Toi-yung (吳岱融). <br/><br/>The Deception of the Novelist revolves around Justin’s character as a famous novelist Tsui Jit, who receives a large inheritance after his father’s passing. He rents out one of his inherited properties to a Japanese/Chinese woman named Elaine Chan Sin Ching (松岡李那 Linah Matsuoka) and they embark on an affair, causing rifts in his marriage with Kiki Tong (Jeanna). <br/><br/>One night, Elaine is suddenly found dead on the road (in front of her rented residential unit). When police start their investigation, they realize that there are a lot of suspicious factors to the case leading them to suspect that this is not their normal kidnapping or revenge against an unfaithful husband case.<br/><br/>Tsui admitted to the police that he had accidentally killed Elaine in anger by pushing her off from the balcony because Elaine kept on blackmailing him. But then, the case file is not closed as Superintendent of Police So, believes that Tsui is not telling the truth after attentive observation from him. There are still several suspectable points in the case.<br/><br/>Through serious investigation, Superintendent So, eventually discovers that Tsui's wife, Kiki, had already known Tsui had an affair with Elaine. Therefore, Superintendent So has suspected that Elaine might be killed by Kiki out of her hatred and in a spirit of revenge. After all, Who is the murderer? What is the story behind the truth?
